LipX Scrub - Exfoliates the skin on the lips, by gently removing dead, impenetrable keratinocytes (skin cells) for better absorption of active ingredients.

LipX Mask - The main treatment. Delivers tyrosinase inhibitors to reduce pigmentation. 35% active ingredients to slow down the rate of melanin production in the melanocytes (pigment producing cells).

LipX Balm - Soothes & hydrates. 25% active ingredients in a soothing balm to continue to reduce melanocyte hyperactivity all night.

For all skin types & persons over 16 years and over.

Not for persons with a history of reactions to skincare products or overly sensitive or damaged lips.

LipX High Strength Active ingredients & function

Tocopheryl Acetate- Oil-soluble anti-oxidant, mops up free radicals to prevent further hyperpigmentation. It improves the skin barrier and hydration levels to create a healing environment for the skin.

Retinyl Palmitate- (Vitamin A) stimulates production of new skin cells and assists with photoaging pigmentation.

Kojic Dipalmitate- Tyrosinase Inhibitor, which then slows down the rate of melanin production. Best form of Kojic acid for skin of colour.

Alpha-Arbutin- Tyrosinase Inhibitor. Derivative of Hydroquinone but without the side effects. This is why it is suitable for skin of colour.

Liquorice extract- Tyrosinase Inhibitor, which then slows down the rate of melanin production.

Niacinamide- Prevents melanosome transfer from the melanocytes (cells that produce melanin) to the surrounding Keratinocytes. So less melanin is visible on the skin's surface.

Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate- Stable, non-irritating form of Azelaic acid

Phytic Acid- Treats dermal pigmentation. Anti Oxidant and chelates iron molecules in the skin, which are responsible for causing damage to DNA.

Octadecanoic Acid- It acts along the melanin pathway from reducing melanin production to reducing melanin transfer to the keratinocytes.

Step 1: Dr. V LipX Scrub

Gently removes dead, impenetrable keratinocytes (skin cells) for better absorption of active ingredients.

DIRECTIONS: Massage gently for up to1 minute on wet lips, 2-3 times a week in the evening then wash off. Do not use on broken skin. Apply LipX Mask next.

35% active ingredients to slow down the rate of melanin production in the melanocytes (pigment producing cells).

DIRECTIONS: Apply 2-3 Nights a week after your Dr V Lip Scrub. Leave on for 15-20 minutes then wash off. This contains the highest percentage actives from the 3 products so you need ingredients to penetrate. It is advisable to patch test on a small section of lip before applying to the remainder.

PLEASE NOTE: the bottle is an airless pump, and should not be disassembled. It does not contain an applicator, fully press the nozzle down firmly and rapidly to release the product.

Step 3: Dr. V LipX Balm

25% active ingredients in a soothing balm to continue to reduce melanocyte hyperactivity all night.

DIRECTIONS: Apply every night 2 hours before sleeping whether you have applied the Dr V scrub/mask or not.

A small percentage of users may find this product drying on the lips, due to the high strength active ingredients used. It would be advisable to apply Vaseline during the day if this applies to you.

Not to be used within 1 month of completing other treatment products or 3 months of any professional treatment on the same area. *Results may vary from person to person and are not guaranteed*

Hyperpigmentation shouldn’t return as long as you are vigilant with your SPF50 lip balm during the day and there are no new causes of pigmentation.

may include but are not limited to minor irritation to the treated skin, or some mild stinging, redness, peeling or swelling. In the rare event of an allergic reaction, please discontinue immediately and seek medical advice from your doctor.

1. How does Dr.V LipX treatment work?

Dr.V LipX kit uses very high strength Tyrosinase Inhibitors to slow down the rate of melanin production. The kit treats the root cause of pigmentation to give long term results compared to the normal lip scrubs which only take the top layer of dead pigmented cells away but the skin is a living organ and cells will grow back pigmented.

2. Why do we get Lip Hyperpigmentation?

Lip pigmentation can be caused by:

UV damage, chemical burns from acid peels or "home remedies" like lemon juice, hot drinks burning the upper lips, lip inflammation, cigarette smoking oran allergic reaction to cosmetics.

Inflammation takes place which triggers the sensitive melanocytes in skin of colour. Melanocytes over-produce melanin and lead to a darkening of the lips.

"Your natural lip colour is the colour you are born with, darkening happens with micro injury and inflammation over time" Dr Vanita Rattan

3. The surface of my LipX Scrub is uneven?

The surface of the scrub can sometimes be more uneven than the other LipX component creams as it is hand-filled (as opposed to machine-filled). If indentations are present, this is most likely to be due to the utensil used to fill the jar.

4. Is it normal for the product colour to change over time?

The whole product turning a slightly darker colour can happen after a few months of usage due to the plant extracts and high strength anti-oxidants used. This does not affect the safety or efficacy of the product.

5. Is it normal for the lips to sting upon application of the LipX Balm?

This is rare but normal if for a few minutes. However, please reduce the amount you are using (to a ‘grain of rice’ amount per lip) just in case. It may also sting more if the lips are dry, so please apply your normal SPF moisturising lip balm more during the day also. You may also wish to reduce the intensity/duration of LipX Scrub application if too hard or too long.

6. What should I do if I have a reaction? (rare)

Please discontinue usage, wash the product off with cold water and apply an occlusive such as Vaseline. Please contact for advice if symptoms are mild/moderate, or contact your doctor if severe (all reaction types are very rare).

7. It has been 3 months and I have not seen any results yet? (rare)

We say it may take minimum 3-6 months of usage and timings/results vary by person. It could mean that you need to use the kit (or a new one) for a few more months in most of these cases. However, a small percentage of users may not respond to treatment.

1. Why is Retinyl Palmitate used, I thought Dr V doesn't like it?

Retinyl Palmitate is not preferred for normal facial skin, but is preferred for the skin on the lips which is thinner. Therefore, the weakest form of Vitamin A (least irritating) is preferred for the lips i.e. Retinyl Palmitate.

2 What are common mistakes for treating Lip Pigmentation in skin of colour:

-Lip Scrubs: Will remove the top layer of dead pigmented skin but the skin grows back and pigmentation returns

-Honey: this will cause you to lick your lips and introduce more amylase onto the skin which will irritate the lip skin and further exacerbate lip pigmentation

-Lemon juice: has a pH of 2 which is far too acidic for our skin which has a pH of 5.5. This can burn the skin and lead to more pigmentation

-Apple cider vinegar: has a pH of 2.5 which can also burn lips and lead to post inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

None of the above are suitable for skin of colour and this is an issue seen mainly in Asian and African origin populations.

"Hi Dr V, after using LipX kit, I am more than thrilled to finally step out of my house WITHOUT lipstick. Of course this took months, 6 months to be precise. Needless to say it changed my life. Have always been conscious of my lips and how they looked...tried all the home remedies which made it worse. Then you came along and changed everything! Thank you so much for simply existing in our lives. The skin of colour family is proud to have you. ❣️ Love, Aunkita"

Used the product as directed for about two weeks now and I did see some difference. I’ll say a little faster than expected cos Dr V mentioned in one of her videos, it might take sometime, like months.

I think I naturally have pink lips and they got darker from sun exposure, my exposure reduced in recent time, might be additional to why my response was faster, but I’ll continue to observe.

Sad I think takes pictures of before.

Not results yet

I have used the lip pigmentación kit now for almost 2 month and have not seing any change on my lips coloration. I'm following the directions, there has not being a night that I have forgotten to apply the mask 2 to 3 hours before going to bed and using the whole kit 3 times per week but still my upper lip looks and have the same dark color.
I will use it until the end and I hope there will be some change and different appearence between day 1 when i started treatment and the end of this treatment kit

It really works

The product is excellent and works for sure. It can take some time but eventually I have seen changes throughout the weeks and months. The photos below, show monthly changes in 3 months. Thank you very much Dr. Vanita, you are the best and I am a lifelong customer of yours and hope to buy more of your products soon. You deserve the world and all that is in it. I cry tears of joy, when I am reminded of you and how you have helped me and so many other people with this product.

Matías Melina (Amsterdam, NL)

After three and a half weeks, it is still very early to say but indeed i see changes on the lip pigmentation. I bought this product as i noticed i had around 3 darker dots on the lips that started to make me feel a bit self-conscious when people mentioned it. I am aware it is a slow process and patience is really a virtue so at first i did feel like those 3 dots where becoming even more obvious, possibly as the surroundings were lighting up, which is already a plus. I feel this product is really doing its thing so can't wait to see how results will look after 3 months.

Thank you Dr. V!

It works.

I see a difference already. To be fair I am light skinned and my lips are naturally light but I did have darkening in the corners, which is the reason I bought it. I notice a big difference on my lips, especially bottom lip. It’s bubble gum pink. My corners are still not where I want them but to be honest I’ve only been using the product for two weeks. I’m sure by the 6th month I’ll be all even. This is obviously not going to be the outcome for everyone but for Latino back ground and skin tone I saw results in 5 days. Sound exaggerated but I am not kidding.

K (Birmingham, GB)

Only used about 4 times so far, but lips are certainly a lot brighter. The system is easy to use and you don’t need a lot so in the long run it will last - so good value for money.
I think the pigmentation outline will go down in colour eventually. Thank you Dr V for formulating products that are safe and give results. Look forward to using and reviewing other products too.

Amazing results

I have been using the kit religiously for around a month now, 3 times a week. And the results are amazing😍.
I had darker lining of my lips which I did not like and using this for a month reduced it up to about 70% which is insane results.
I have a slightly darker upper lips as well and it has improved to around 50% which is making me happy and satisfied with this kit. One thing to consider is that you must use a broad spectrum lip spf when using this to see results.

Vasantha Narayanswami (Farnborough, GB)
Persistence pays! Slow but definite results.

I am still using the product 3 times a week and am now seeing significant results.
Two areas of my bottom lip line (about 1/2 cm in length) are now hyperpigmentation free: no discolouration whatsoever. The areas are pink!
Top lip pigmentation is significantly paler than it was when I started using LipX in 2021 and patches of pink are now visible along the top of the lip.
Very pleased with the results which have given me the determination to continue with the treatment.

Amazing so far

I’ve had the lip pigmentation kit on my mind for a few years but finally decided to take the plunge in December 2022. I’ve always had a dark outline on my lips since I was young, so feared this wouldn’t make any difference. I have only used for over a month and have noticed a significant difference already! The dark outlines on my lips have faded and my lips are so much more pink. I used to feel very self-conscious about my lips so I’m looking forward to see how much it’ll improve over the next few months. Hoping this will last forever, £95 is a lot but so far it has been worth it :)

Sharleen Rajput (Columbus, US)
Love it

I have been using it for the past three weeks and I already see a difference. I am also wearing an spf 40 sunscreen for the lip to make sure that nothing triggers the hyperpigmentation.
