Why Use a Gel Moisturiser?

For oily/acne prone skin, you want to use a non-comedogenic moisturiser (doesn’t clog pores). For this you ideally want a non-fatty moisturiser, so a light gel-based moisturiser is preferrable, where you know the water content is high & fat content negligible.

Why Use Separate AM/PM Moisturisers?

There are advantages to using some active ingredients at night, and there are other ingredients which you would not want to use during the day ideally. This calls for separate formulations of moisturiser, so ingredient utilisation is optimised for each time period.

People of skin of colour with oily skin are more likely to get all 3 acne blemishes:

1. Acne,

2. Post Inflammatory Erythema (red marks)

3. Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (brown marks).

We need to tackle all 3 processes simultaneously.

In skin of colour, we don’t want to worsen acne or cause reactions, as this is more likely to lead to hyperpigmentation. The TRIO Blemish range has a minimal expected reaction rate (zero reactions in the consumer study in fact).

The active ingredients are at the correct percentages for skin of colour, working synergistically in an easy-to-follow step-by-step system.

The simplification reduces the risk of making mistakes with confusing skincare products & layering, which are more costly for skin of colour.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOUR SKIN & HOW DOES TRIO BLEMISH HELP?

There is an increase of sebum production, your skin cells become more sticky and this clogs the pores creating an anaerobic environment in the pore where C. Acnes bacteria then replicates. This is seen as a pimple.

We want to use TRIO Blemish products to regulate sebum production, unclog pores and reduce marks seen from acne.

If pimples become large and painful it is called a cyst and you should see a dermatologist.

For people with oily/acne prone skin and/or enlarged pores, blackheads, sebaceous filaments.

Separate protocols apply for general oily skin and combination skin (see below).

1. How long would TRIO Blemish range products last for?

This will vary for each product and person, however, if usage guidelines are followed, the average duration may be 6-8 weeks approx.

2. Is the TRIO Blemish suitable for pregnancy & breastfeeding?

The range is suitable for pregnancy except for the 'PM Gel Moisturiser' (contains Vitamin A). If unsure or your circumstances vary, please check with your doctor.

3. Is the TRIO Blemish range suitable for all skin types?

The FULL product range is NOT suitable for dry or sensitive skin.

4a. What if I have combination skin (acne prone, hormonal acne & non-acne prone)?

Please try the following protocol if your skin is normal/dry in most areas and oily on the T-zone:

AM & PM please use the Dr. V Daily Range, but on the T-zone, use the TRIO Blemish Exfoliator INSTEAD OF the Daily Range 'Exfoliate to Glow' product.

Alternatively, you can use the full TRIO Blemish range on the oily t-zone, and the full Daily range on normal/dry skin if you wish, but this may over-complicate your skincare routine and not be sustainable.

4b. What if I have combination skin plus rosacea?

Same routine as (4a) above on all other areas but do not exfoliate on rosacea area please.

5a. Can you use the TRIO Blemish range with Dr. V Hyperpigmentation kits?

Yes, using the following protocol:

MORNING:

1. Wash with TRIO Blemish Face Wash

2. Apply TRIO Blemish Exfoliator

3. TRIO Blemish AM Gel Moisturiser.

EVENING:

1. TRIO Blemish Face Wash

2. TRIO Blemish Exfoliator,

3. Apply Dr. V Facial Pigmentation Kit to target pigmentation areas.

4. TRIO Blemish PM Gel Moisturiser (optional - you may find the FP Kit creams hydrating enough)

5b. Can you use the TRIO Blemish range with Dr. V Antioxidant Power Serum or Cera Pep?

It's not necessary to use the serum as there is significant ingredient overlap, but you can use it after the PM Gel if you wish.

Cera Pep can be added after PM Gel if your skin feels dry sometimes and is not very oily/acne prone.

5c. Can you mix & match the TRIO Blemish range with Dr. V Daily Range or 3rd party products?

Yes, you can interchange parts of the TRIO Blemish routine with products from other brands or Dr V Daily Range, for example if you only want to use TRIO Blemish cleansers but moisturisers from elsewhere and vice versa.

6a. Can I still use Tretinoin/ topical Acne medications (Duac, Adapalene etc) with TRIO Blemish range?

Yes, same as Facial Pigmentation kit protocol above, but swapping the kit with Tretinoin/medication, and SKIP the evening Exfoliator application.

So the protocol would be:

MORNING:

1. Wash with TRIO Blemish Face Wash

2. Apply TRIO Blemish Exfoliator

3. TRIO Blemish AM Gel Moisturiser.

EVENING:

1. TRIO Blemish Face Wash

2. Tretinoin or Acne medication

3. TRIO Blemish PM Gel Moisturiser

Note: please avoid if skin is sensitive or becomes sensitive after combining these products.

6b. Can I use the TRIO Blemish range whilst on Isotretinoin/Roaccutane?

Only some of the products, you can use the TRIO Blemish Face Wash & AM Gel Moisturiser.

Please do not use the PM Gel or Exfoliator.

6c. Should I still use Niacinamide, Ceramides, Retinol, Vitamin A/C/E serums from other skincare lines in conjunction with the Dr V. TRIO Blemish Range?

No, nothing else required, it's all in the range.

You can try other products with the range, however only you know your skin and what it can tolerate, so some trial & error may be needed.

7a. Can TRIO Blemish be used for body acne, such as on the back?

Yes. For back acne, a possible routine could be:

1. TRIO Blemish Exfoliator (leave on for at least 20 mins).

2. Followed by Deep Cleansing Body Wash

7b. Can TRIO Blemish be used for fungal acne?

Not for fungal acne, please see your doctor for this.

8. Is 'purging' likely?

In rare cases, spots may occur for a few days or up to 6 weeks when you first start usage of TRIO Blemish. This is likely to be 'purging' where the vitamin A in the TRIO Blemish products causes skin cell turnover to increase and bring oil/bacteria up to the skin's surface quicker than usual (in oily/acne prone skin).

9. How long does it take to see results?

You may start to notice beneficial effects in as little as 2-4 weeks, however we advise 8+ weeks to see the full potential, as per the consumer trial results.

Best skincare routing I’ve ever tried for my oily skin of colour and so easy and quick to do meaning I’m less likely to forget it or be too tired to do it.

Healthy looking skin

I have very oily skin and this product makes my skin completely normal. I also love how healthy and clear it makes my skin. It keeps my breakouts to the very minimum too during that time of the month. I can go on about how Dr V. helped me transform my skin during the pandemic when wearing a mask completely ruined my cheeks and chin with acne, but since then I knew I wouldn’t go to anyone else for skin help. Once her line came out I’ll never use anything else! So good. And when I put the products on I love how they feel on my skin.

I really love this package because I feel comfortable and confident in every single ingredient put in it and I have no qualms about whether I'm mixing/layering ingredients that I shouldn't. It's great to know that Dr. V created this with darker skin in mind because my biggest issue is the darker spots that are left behind on my skin after the acne is no longer active, and while this product doesn't do miracles overnight, I do feel that it is helping me to heal my skin and repair my skin barrier. I love that the AM and PM gels have a clear look to them, and while they do take a bit of time on the skin to absorb, I really feel that they're doing good for my skin!!! I'm going to have a hard time trying anything else after this product.

The cleanser does have a bit of a strange look to it after you rub it into your face, but I don't mind that so much because I know Dr. V prioritizes the ingredients and effects on your skin over how the product necessarily "looks".

Pros and cons

I received the trio blemish kit on Nov. 22nd. So I have been using it consistently for almost 3 weeks. The exfoliator arrived opened and almost completely empty. I emailed customer support and eventually they mailed out a new bottle. But the order takes almost a month to arrive which is a huge con. I wasn’t offered a refund or credit for the damaged product. As far as my skin goes, I’ve been having more breakouts than usual on my chin and jaw. Larger types than usual also. I figure it’s purging from the retinol. My skin overall seems more even and healthy aside from the breakouts that also leave dark marks. The system is very moisturizing and does not dry my skin out at all. It feels nice and silky. Since the exfoliator bottle arrived almost empty and the sprayer doesn’t work, I have to port drops into my hand and apply it that way which is very annoying. I’ll update again after another month if I am still using it.

Cleared my acne

I had a bad outbreak of acne . So I decided to use Dr V . It has been 34 days since I ordered and since I started using the acne set and my acne has almost clear up. I’m peeling a lot so I’m still figuring out how often I should exfoliate.

Products that actually work!!!

I’ve been using this range for about 5 months now and can honestly say these products work! My skin has improved significantly since using these products. I used to get spots regularly but now I get the odd one here and there and they don’t hang around for long. Prior to using these products my skin would always feel irritated which was so frustrating and actually stressful! My skin now feels so calm and smooth. I’ve also noticed the oil production is much less. I do struggle with hyperpigmentation, mostly from previous acne but I can see it is a slight improvement. I am also using the hyperpigmentation kit as well in the hope that I will see better results in time. I’m aware hyperpigmentation can be stubborn especially if it’s been around for a while so I will continue to use these products and the hyperpigmentation kit and hope that within around a year I would have seen improved results. As for the Trio Blemish range, this is hands down my new skin care routine and I would not change it for anything! My skin loves the stuff!

Reduce my acne and post acne marks

Hii , Dr vanita I am very impressed with the results as I have cystic acne and but somehow it reduced after using trio blemish and my acne marks also become lighter. I am very happy with the results as well as skin become even more soft.
