For people of colour, we don’t want to dry or irritate the skin, which includes the skin on your scalp.

A dry, irritated scalp because of sub-optimal haircare is more likely to lead to hair loss, thinning, and strand fragility.

As with all Dr Vanita Rattan's products, this hair range is formulated with these principles in mind, to use ingredients less likely to harm sensitive skin of colour, whilst packing a powerful punch of active ingredients proven to improve skin and hair health & appearance.

NO DENATURED ALCOHOL

NO FRAGRANCE

NO ESSENTIAL OILS

CRUELTY FREE

For women & men, age 20+ with thinning, brittle hair from ageing and damage over time.

For normal & dry, thinning hair. Types 1a - 4c hair.

Not ideal for persons with an oily scalp. However, it is suitable if the scalp only becomes greasy after 1-2 days.

May help with moderate dandruff but not if severe.

Not for persons with a history of reactions to topical skin/hair products or overly dry/sensitive/damaged skin.

What is happening to your hair with age?

In females, by the mid-30s, there is a reduction in oestrogen levels. Oestrogen protects the hair root from the hormone testosterone.

This process speeds up at menopause and 40% of those by 70 years of age have female pattern hair loss.

The increased testosterone effect leads to thin, brittle hair, with premature hair loss.

To slow this process, you need to:

- Stimulate hair follicles.

- Improve the health of the scalp so strong, vibrant hair can grow.

- Supply the scalp with essential nutrients.

- Strengthen current hair to prevent breakage.

Please see individual hair range products for full ingredients and key ingredient functions.

See individual products for more detailed guidelines, however the running order of the complete system is:

STEP 1. Apply Cuticle Repair Conditioner, to the whole wet hair strand. Don't rinse. (Step 1 is optional for all hair types, not mandatory, but recommended for 15+ mins for hair type 4c).

STEP 2. Wet hair and apply Thickening Shampoo to the scalp. Rinse off after 1 min.

STEP 3. Apply Cuticle Repair Conditioner, to the whole hair strand. Rinse off after 2 mins.

STEP 4. Apply Protect & Shield Conditioner, to the whole hair strand. Leave in. (Rec. daily for hair type 4c).

STEP 5. Apply Strand Strengthening Oil, from 2 inches from the scalp to hair tip. Leave in. (Rec. daily for hair type 4c). Can be used before/after heat-styling.

STEP 6. Spray Anagen Boost Scalp Tonic directly on to thinning hair patches. Leave in.

Please note, Steps 1-5 should be on the days you wash the hair (max. 2-3 times per week).

Step 6 can be on the hair washing days or every day.

Ideally dry hair after showering with a micro fibre towel, to minimise drying time when hair is weakest.

Summary of which products primarily go on the scalp or hair strand:

SCALP: Shampoo, Tonic.

HAIR: Conditioners, Oil.

1. How long do Dr. V Hair Range products last for?

This will vary for each product and person, however, if usage guidelines are followed, the average duration may be 6-12 weeks approx.

2. Is the Hair Range suitable for pregnancy & breastfeeding?

Yes.

3a. Is the Hair Range suitable for an oily scalp?

If moderately oily you can try the range, but avoid if very oily i.e. gets greasy within 24 hours of washing.

3b. Is the Hair Range suitable for dandruff?

The hair range may help with moderate dandruff, but it is not sufficient for severe dandruff.

3c. Is the Hair Range suitable for dry/itchy scalp?

The Anagen Boost Hair Tonic is not suitable in this case, but the other Hair Range products are.

3d. Is the Hair Range suitable for colour dyed / bleached hair?

Yes, and it would be actively beneficial for this, to renourish and rebuild the hair strand damaged by the above.

3e. Is the Hair Range suitable for hair that is not thinning or brittle?

Yes, it can be used on all hair types except for for where the scalp gets greasy easily (see 3a above).

4a. Can you use the Hair Range whilst using other Dr. V or 3rd Party skin products on the face / body.

Yes.

4b. Can you mix & match the Hair Range with 3rd party haircare products?

You would not need to use any other cosmetic treatment products on the scalp/hair, as the Dr. V Hair Range has all the active ingredients you need.

If prescribed scalp medications are being used, please wait until finished before starting/resuming Dr. V Hair Range.

5. Can I use the Hair Range whilst on Isotretinoin/Roaccutane?

No, please wait until 6 months after completion to use Dr. V Hair Range.

6. Can I apply Hair Range products during the day?

Yes the product range is safe to wear during the day (as opposed to hyperpigmentation kits, which are not).

7. Which products go on the scalp and which on the whole hair strand?

SCALP: Shampoo*, Tonic.

HAIR: Conditioners, Oil.

*The Shampoo is for direct application to the scalp, not for all of the hair strand. The reason we suggest this is to not the strip the hair of moisture; surfactants in the shampoo remove grime & dirt, but on the hair strand this can be drying (all shampoos).

8. Why does the range contain sulfates/sulphates (same)?

We have no general concerns with sulfates (nor is there sufficient evidence to support this), it depends on the type and how they are used.

For example, Sodium Laureth Sulfate is used safely and effectively in our Shampoo as an excellent cleaning agent, which helps to clear the scalp of grime to allow hair to grow. This is substantially different from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which we do not recommend.

9. How long does it take to see results?

The timeline below may be broadly applicable to most users:

Immediately (1-3 uses): Hair is easier to detangle, feels smoother/silkier and looks shinier.

After 4 weeks: hair feels thicker, split ends reduced, frizz reduced.

For enhanced benefits, particularly hair length, strength and new growth, combine with Dr. V Collagen Boost and use consistently.

Hair Range

I bought all five items to see if they were any different to other hyped up shampoos and oils etc.

I have been through more shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, leave in conditioners and oils than I've had hot dinners! LOL

HAIR THICKENING SHAMPOO: It's quite thick when you pump it and took a while to get enough in my hand to wash my hair (and I've got very short hair), but I got there eventually and it soaped up my hair like any other shampoo. My hair felt and looked clean enough.

HAIR CUTICLE REPAIR CONDITIONER: This is quite thick and creamy. A lovely consistency. Again I was looking for that lovely smell that comes with conditioners, but there was none LOL, it really is fragrance free! My hair felt softer, but in all honesty most conditioners make my hair feel soft straight after washing it, it's later on after a few days that the truth comes out.

HAIR PROTECT AND SHEILD CONDITIONER: This is a leave in conditioner which works well on dry hair and combs through leaving my hair feeling better than if I hadn't used it. I have to say I do like it.

HAIR STRAND STRENGTHENING OIL: This oil is one of my favourites as it isn't greasy and my hair did feel somewhat softer, however like all the other Dr V products, you need more than is suggested. I have what is known as 4C hair and need far more than a few drops and pumps of product. I was impressed with the fact that it wasn't greasy and didn't leave a high shine on my hands after applying it.

HAIR ANAGEN BOOST TONIC: This is the product that hacked me off a bit. Well it wasn't the product itself, it was the amount in the bottle. This is the one product that I was convinced was working. Every night I would spray a few spritzes on the thin patches on my head (the thin patch on the crown of my head is is quite large and noticeable) and needed to spritz at least 4 squirts in that area and thin spots, one either side of my head. By the end of the week the Boost Tonic was finished (15ml). When I tried to order it again I discovered I was restricted to one! I can't keep ordering one every week. I was so disheartened by that, that I abandoned the order. I definitely saw some thickness in my hair which was amazing because I can be very skeptical when it comes to hair products, none seem to do what they say they would, but this tonic seems to have done something and then it was finished! The tonic needs to be in a bigger bottle - at least 100ml. 15ml just begins to do it and then it's gone! You can only order one due to stock limitations, so that is no good to anyone!

All in all the hair products are fine and after a few uses my hair felt softer than it usually feels and I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

Holy grail

I’ve been struggling with an itchy scalp for a very loooooong time. Been checked by several dermatologists who said nothing was wrong with my scalp. Tried many different shampoos and always been disappointed so gave up on finding a solution - just got used to my itchy scalp… Bought Dr V hair care range and used it only twice - it worked wonders!!! I am so happy to have come across these products!!! Thank you Dr V for this range - pure magic! 🤍

Didn't expect much from this shampoo other than its fragrance free. I have suffered hair loss after having my children, my last baby was the worst where I'd get clumps of hair in my brush, hair thinning on the root of my head. I've been using this shampoo and conditioner and from the first use I noticed little hair fall out, second use no hair fall out except for a normal amount, I used to have itchy shoulders and neck due to hairs landing on it all day and I'd be pulling them away, left me defeated, but all that has stopped and I've only just started using the shampoo and conditioner! I must admit I haven't been using the oil, the leave in conditioner and the tonic, not sure if I need it? Hair seems to be staying put on my head so I'm just happy about that! I am definitely going to continue to buy this shampoo and conditioner :)

Cons: please please please write the ingredients at the back of the actual product, I don't keep the cardboard and I'm pretty sure nobody else does, I love reading throug ingredients list whilst I'm in the shower.

Number the products in order of use, i.e shampoo 1 conditioner 2 leave in conditioner 3 oil 4 and tonic 5
I have confused the leave in conditioner for the actual conditioner twice now. And perhaps write "leave in" conditioner on the bottle.
The lid on the shampoo is a nuisance, comes off so easily, a regular lid might be good or a twist to lock.

I have short hair so I don't get through much product but if I did have long hair I don't think it would get to a whole month.

Lastly, we need hair care products now! Some hair spray, hair mask, frizz tamer etc

Lastly, thank you for creating this for us! I never thought I'd say spending so much on a shampoo and conditioner would be worth it but if you suffer hair loss I would definitely try this before you give up!

Should definitely try

After I had one wash with the products, I noticed my hair has become more moisture, less itchiness to the scalp and easy to comb. Also with less tangle, I noticed less hair fall. Usually I get handful of hair fall after I comb but after using these hair products, this has reduced considerably. My only question is how much shampoo to be used for a hair wash as it’s not producing any foam, I keep on adding more shampoo than I think I needed.

Hair range - works wonders

My first time using dr v hair range has really surprised me, I love it! my usually brittle and frizzy feeling hair completely transformed just after one use! I'm in shock how smooth and silky my hair felt afterwards and so easy to style too.
I think it speaks volumes how one use can make hair feel so nourished and healthy. Thank you Dr V, always a fan of your products.
