Knee Pigmentation

Knee Pigmentation

Discoloration of the knees is often associated with some thickening of the skin. It is usually caused by a condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) due to friction, for example from clothing or kneeling on the area.

This skin also tends to be dryer than skin on the rest of the body, which makes it more susceptible to inflammation, redness, and peeling, leading to hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is caused by an over production of melanocytes located in the epidermis.

You’re more at risk of developing knee pigmentation if…

  • You’ve had an injury on the affected area of skin – for example, if you've had sunburn or a severe rash
  • you tan easily in the sun
  • you've tried unsuitable treatments, which made the condition worse

Treatment

The most important part of treatment is to reduce friction, rubbing, or injury to the areas that are darkening.

Once the skin has fully recovered and the skin barrier is healthy, the Dr V Body Pigmentation Kit can be used to reverse some of the darkened knee skin and/or…

  • post eczema pigmentation
  • post insect bites, after rashes
  • burns & scars
  • post acne pigmentation
  • post laser pigmentation

The Dr V Body Pigmentation Kit is a 2-step process:

Step 1HPC Body Clear Cream delivers tyrosinase inhibitors deep into the skin's melanocytes to reduce melanin production, thereby reducing hyperpigmentation.

Step 2Vita A.C.E Cream increases cell turnover and regeneration with a powerful cocktail of vitamins optimised for skin of colour (vitamin A, C and E).

You administer in the evening by applying a thin layer of HPC BODY CLEAR for 3 nights on pigmented areas. On the 4th night, apply VITA A.C.E. Repeat the cycle.

This clinically proven kit was designed for Skin of Colour and is loved by dermatologist globally.
